Poppy petals sealed under plastic film - variable size - 2019

Papaver Rhoeas is the Latin name for poppy. Its etymology evokes a flowing mixture. In Dutch, the name of the flower is Kollenbloen, which means witch flower. The work is in fact a tribute to women. A large circle about 3-4 meters in diameter is installed on the ground. Each element that creates the mandala measures 15 x 7 cm and is cut out in the shape of a sanitary napkin which is used monthly by women. On each montage the work takes different design and different nuances. The work is charged with many universal symbols such as the cycle of life, time, blood, suffering but also tranquility, the fragile ardor of the poppy flower and the female gender itself. It is conceived as an ancient mosaic and as a proposal for an archeology of women but also as a projection into their future.
